Flag description.
Consisting of four colours, the Brunei Flag has a yellow background which is traditionally the colour of royalty in South East Asia. The flag is split by two diagonal bars, one black and one white. With the crest in the centre, each part has its own meaning. The crescent symbolises Islam, the parasol is for the monarchy and the hands represent the kindness of the government. Although the original designer is unknown, the flag has changed several times over the last century. Originally the flag was plain yellow until 1906 when the two bars were added, in 1959 the crest was added and the flag we know today was adopted on 29th September.
