Adopted in 1918, the Lithuania Flag wa originally used to show Independence until soviet Russia took control of the nation between 1918-1940 but was once again lost independence to Nazi Germany through 1941-1944. After this the flag design used the same tricolor that it does today but between 1945-1989, the lower red bar was the same red as the soviet Russia.
