The flag of Ireland, known as the Irish tricolour, was adopted in the 20th century during the Irish War of Independence and remained as the unofficial flag of the Irish Free State until given its official status under the 1937 Irish constitution.

The Ireland flag features a vertical triband of the colours, green, white and orange. The green colour symbolises Irish republicanism and catholic belief, the orange colour represents supporters of King William III and protestant belief, and the white symbolises the two different culture living with peace and harmony in a united Ireland.
